(X-posted) Lamp base idea.

I've got this idea for a lamp base. Only I'm wondering whether it is just too extreme an idea.

I want to get a pair of really wicked boots... secondhand OK, even almost worn out OK... have them chromed (as per bronzing like they do for baby shoes) and adapt them to be a lampbase. I'd likelly have to get a suitable nice round bit of polished wood to attach them to, and fill the boots themselves with something like plaster with a pipe down the middle for the electrics.

Then I'd spray paint a lamp shade black and hammer on studs like on leather

Ooh, if that's do-able, it'd be awesome! Too bad boots are so expensive, a Storm Elevator lamp would look so cool
