I think the architects of the World Trade Towers should be commended upon their excellent design which formed the base of an excellent example of fine workmenship and skills. Not only did it withstand a Boeing jet flying full speed into it, but it then stood for another half hour with roaring fires while most people below evactuated. And because of its design, when it did come down, it came straight down and did not tip over sidewise as a stupid Bin-Ladin no doubt had hoped. Perhaps it was God giving a guiding hand to help protect New Yorkers from the evils of frantics who'd twist and betray his words and intents - but in any event, the design & workmanship served better than anyone could have

The statement was made the moment the first plane struck. Everything after that was icing.

As for God, I expect hundreds of thousands of friends and relatives of those who suffered the most horrifying deaths will be questioning His participation in this (what a choice - burn to death or leap 100 storeys to the bitumen). Neither Islam nor Christianity fared well in this event.

No they knew exactly what would happen. They planned the operation very well. The plane crash would not destroy the building, they knew that. However the plane they hijacked were full of petrol.

So once it crashes a fire will break out. The heat damages the steel frame. This liquifies under very high temperature, the building loses its structural strength.

A process of collapse begins and the lower floors are no longer able to bear the stress. A chain reaction is set in motion, which culminates with the collapse of the entire building.

The collapse of the ceilings of each floor one atop the other caused the buildings to collapse, and that is why it took a certain amount of time from the time the plane hit until the total collapse.

The odds are that a professional engineer was consulted before the raid.

Doubtfull actually, consider that the fully ladden plane is roughly equiv. to a kiloton explosion and that it was being driven into the building at 500mph, that sort of force wold normally be expected to take out a section of a city. Just not the building in question, it continued to stand and give many people a chance to escape unlike the intention of the lunatics.

if this would have happened when the building were built they would have had no trouble absorbing the shock of a plane crash. but a modern day widebody aircraft is much larger and carries much more fuel than back in the day. the fire would have been less damaging had there been less fuel; the building was designed to withstand 4 hourse of burning which is more than the minimum requirements. so in my opinion the architectural structure was indeed a great design for its time but considering modern aircraft... well the worst happened

To the victims and to all the eforts being made to recover.
