Hello -

We are considering window shades or reflective film for our condo association's common area windows which receive a lot of sun light.

Our objective is to minimize fading of fabrics on the interior as well as minimize heat gain in the summer. In the winter we would like to capture some of the heat energy.

Do readers have any recommendations toward one product or another?

Thanks for any suggestions.

External shades, preferably, or light-colored internal shades.

I think you may want to take a look at the film. As a condo, there may be strict rules on appearances and the film is the least obtrusive. Do not go to Home Depot for your film though, get professional quality. The film is quite effective for temp control. We just had some done last year and it has made an incredible impact.
