hard wood floors or carpeting? The rest of our house has hard wood floors, but we want our livingroom/dinning room to be formal, and are wondering if carpeting is better for this?

I think it can look much more impressive if you have hard wood floors and you put a good quality carpet over part of it. I'd always prefer a floor over carpeting.
