My husband and I found a fabulous apartment that we really want to lease (price is right, location and floorplan are perfect). However, the owners just installed new carpet that is just plain awful. They installed multi-colored, high traffic carpet that obviously will withstand several years of wear and tear. There is not one piece of furniture in this world that would look good on this carpet!

I am thinking that we can overlay cool rugs everywhere but that might look strange if we have rugs overlaid onto thick carpet and especially if the rugs were different. Aggg! do you have any suggestions as to what we can do?

I saw on discover tv ,,Christopher said to use a large rug or room size rug to go over carpet that would look best with your furniture.

i am an interior designer; you should probably go with the overlay of area rugs, unless the apt. owner would consider changing the carpets for you. actually, i live in an apt. with very simple berber carpets, i have used area rugs succcessfully especially to introduce my colors. if you run into further problems, there are underlays for area rugs found in your local home improvement center and furthermore, you can consult an interior designer who could solve these and other concerns locally.
