Things to make lives easier in the kitchen

I'm interested in the appliances and all the stuff that after you create your dream kitchen make it ugly or impractical because of the variety of the appliances in the market.

Have any idea what to do it seems that one has to chose between decorative items with no engine power to really expensive ones that are sometimes more than it is needed.
