Okay, I have a problem. I'm really wanting to go with a contemporary kind of look for my bedroom, and my mom's somewhat okay with that. However, the problem arises when I want to go with more functionality and design (Black walls to prevent sunlight from getting in and to help with the lighting effects I'm going to use, frugal design, et cetera), and my mom's still happy with 'Seafom Blue' walls and dumb looking little trophies from when I was 7. And 'Seafoam Blue' was a color personally designed by Satan and all rooms painted that color must be repainted black immediately, if you get my drift. Anyway, I'm kind of wanting a mix of contemporay, urban, and rave style on a somewhat limited budget. Note, I don't want to have some monstrocity resembling some badly designed Laser-Tag area, however, I want somewhere dark where I can meditate and listen to music without clutter distracting me or whatnot. Maybe turn on a rotary light or blacklight or something to add some excitement occasionally, but I'm fine with scrapping the light ideas. If you must know, I want a feeling, like I'm in a 'void' of sorts. Get away from the world and it's stupidities. But now I'm just rambling on about my pointless idosyncracies and should get back to the point. Anyway, a while earlier, my mom and I decided on a really dark navy, but the paint's a low-gloss, and my mom wants no-gloss, so we'll probably have to blow some more money on new paint anyway, so we've decided to argue about it a bit more.
Please! Does anyone have any ideas whatsoever? I'm starting to get pissed and want to become a monk in Tibet or something if I can't figure this out. I spend a lot of time in my room and it is there where I try, and succeed to an extent, to solve my problems with life and society, or just think if nothing else, and having half the room painted dark blue and the other half the 'Seafoam Blue from HELL' kinda hinders that. I know, it probably sounds like a 'child revolting against the orderly and proficient world of design and/or parents' argument, but it extends a little deeper. Anyway, any ideas whatsoever or pictures or whatnot would be definitely appreciated. Or if you could point me to some good style resources on the net, that would be awesome as well. I don't really use Usenet that much, so if you could e-mail me instead, I would be forever grateful.
The 'required but generally hated by all' Thanks in advance.
