Like many folks, my wife and I have decided that some Morris Chairs would be good additions to our living room. Like some, I suspect, we have some questions.

1. Manufacturers Stickley seems to be the one to beat. Are there manufacturers out there for about the same or better price who are as good? While going with a smaller outfit seems more romantic (who doesn't like the idea of going with the skilled, small workshop, located in some sylvan setting - something nice, luddittish, and morrissian about that), the Stickley versions are good, of course they've got heritage on their side, and they'll be around tomorrow.

2. Design The chairs we have in mind will be set next to each other, both facing a leather sofa.

We like both the bow and the slant arm. Can, should, we get one of each, or should we get two of the same kind (ie, can you mix and match the slant and bow arm)?

What about mixing and matching wood? Can you go with oak and cherry say, provided they are both the same finish, or both have the same color upholstry?

Thanks in advance for any responses. I'd really appreciate the received wisdom out there.

On the finishes, Stickley gives you many choices of both wood and finishes, so I know you could find something that would work.If you are serious about retaining a Mission look, stick with oak. I personally would vote for 2 of the same arm style, but that is just my opinion. Good Luck
