I am about to redo My home theater completely..new walls and everything. I am looking for inspiration as to the design of the newly remodeled HT.
If anyone knows any website that has a lot of pics of different movie theaters interiors or home theater interiors, please email the URL.
Thanks in advance

This is a topic that greatly interests me. I recently refurbised my entire room and I can offer some advice. Cost was a big factor in my decision. I didn't want to spend $50,000. Basically, I went to several fabric stores and selected a suede looking fabric in a dark maroon color. I bought enough to cover the walls of my entire room. I used a heavy duty stapler and pleated the material so it looks like curtins. This also helped deaded the room for improved acoustics. My screen is built into the wall with a black fabric all around it. The black fabric is a stretch material and is acoustically transparent, so I put my front speakers behind it so they are invisible. As for the ceiling, I got some special video paint from a local theatre supply store. It is VERY black and non reflective. Painting the entire ceiling black was too much, making the room feel too enclosed, so I painted a triangle shape with the black, starting at the end of the room where the screen is. The base of the triangle starts at the screen (10 ft wide), and tapers out to a point about 14 ft into the room where the projector is mounted. The rest of the ceiling is a dark gold matte. I am happy with the results. As for carpet, I purchased a gold toned carpet and had a black piece of carpet seamed on the end where the screen is. The black is circular shaped, extending 5 ft out at the farthest point, centered in front of the screen. I would like to see some pictures of what other people have done. The magazines are good references, but they tend to deal only with very high dollar rooms. You can do a lot on a small budget if you're creative. If anyone out there has some pictures, please send them. I will do likewise as soon as I can take some of mine.

Another good source of ideas is to go to actual theaters and take the time to study the layout and take notes. If you peel back the pompous glitz of the setups in AVI, etc - the rooms are pretty basic. If you are fortunate enough to have the space to install a setup, the process of designing it can be a source of tremendous fun. I'm working right now on a design that will be incorporated in my next house. It involves a 2 story design with balconies! Although it sounds preposterous, the actual design is actually *practical*! Many of the people who have seen the drawings are amazed how beautiful if is and how cheaply (seriously) it can be accomplished.
Mine is patterned after a favorite theater from my childhood - the old Warner in Ridgewood, NJ. Build in the 1920's it was a sleek deco-inspired auditorium with sandstone, velvet and a hint of neon. It is actually easy to recreate the essence of it in the home with sheetrock and spray stucco...

Try here: http://digitaltheater.com/pictures/
There are a lot of just living rooms with lists of equipment on the site but some, like David Bott's are good examples of what's really happening out there for those of us who want real home theater. I am working on doing a home theater this fall in a 12X23 section of my basement. I plan to do all of the work myself and will probably post the results with pictures.
