We are enlarging our kitchen. I would be most grateful for two pieces of advice:

1) what are the two most important do's and dont's in designing a new kitchen ?

2) what kinds of appliances have worked out best for you and in what placement ?

Thanks,

Guy and Irene

Guy and Irene.

1) i would say you should look out for your working pattern in the kitchen.

((DO)) Usually, you would take something from the (A) fridge then put the items on the top of a ( working top open it then prepare it. Next you may need to (C) wash it. Once all ready you want to (D) heat it up or even cook it. Once all is ready you (E) wish to present it onto a plate.

This a natural movement. A, B & C can be on one side of the kitchen then the rest can be at the opposite side. D & E.

((DON'T)) You should always avoid to have the water and the fire away from each other. Regardless of whether you are using gass or electric cooker. ((DON'T)) you should also avoid to have to cross from one top to another with hot pan. ((DO))So always have a top next to your cooker to drop or check the hot food.

2) It is hard to say but i would suggest that you get all appliance from one vendor. Like MIELE / ZANUSSI / GAGGENAU... so you get a one technician to take care of all your appliance and better price i guess as you would buy from one shop. Otherwise all is to do with your wife choice as for the look she wishes.

have fun !~ Salut
