Building can be an expensive bussiness, and unless you have unlimited amounts of money you are always looking to cut the costs.

It is wise though, to think well about the places we cut and save in, and design, however frivolice it may seem shouldn’t be one of those places.

I just read a post in 2modern Design Talk about a house that is the very example of what I am saying.

tiny footprint

This is a house built in Melbourne, Australia buy Jackson Clements Burrows who’s design philosophy is to achieve sensitive and stimulating environments  in order to provide their clients with unique and successful solutions.

They have now doubt achieved this her. notice how small the footprint of the house is (7 on 9 meters)

blended

The house blends in with its environment so well, it provides the family with complete privacy, when you drive by it on the road, it is only visible from certain angles.

because if the houses small footprint it and it cantilevered rooms, it allows for great playing space for the two young children of the family, there is even a sandbox with built in benches for the parents.

inside

Of course the house is full of light and open spaced, bringing the green and blue of the forest and sea from the outside in.

If you would like to read more about this house go to Modern Design talk or more about the architects go here

I have no Idea what the budget was for this house but I have got to say that it looks like really well spent money.
