I don't thinlk it is! British design is alive and kicking. I believe we are one of the most creative countries in the world. I'm insulted at what Ikea says - telling us to be less British. Britain is thriving with ideas.

I am proud to have been able to meet and work with some of those people who are constantly thinking of new approaches to design within the home.

I'd be interested know other people's thoughts on Bristish creativity, as well as opinion from other countries around the world.

I think the problem is, as is often the case in this country, a lack of appreciation for what we have. We are all too ready to knock ourselves when something goes wrong, but not so happy to congratulate ourselves when something is very right. Last year we had the Dome, which was actually the second most visited tourist attraction in Europe, the new millenium bridge, brilliant and innovative design, ok a slight design and function problem there, but in 70 years time, it will be but a footnote in it's history, the Tate modern, do i really need to elaborate, the Walsall art gallery, the London eye, the newly opened quadrangle at the V&A, Somerset house, who has seen the new central atrium at the Imperial war museum - dull!, Tracy Emin, questionable, maybe, but dull!, Conran!, does it really matter what other people are saying when this country is producing, designs, and designers like this? I've visited the Tate Modern and I'm lucky to be close to the new Walsall Art Gallery.

These are fantastic places to go that demonstrate the creativity this country has. That's not to knock foreign talent - there is plenty too!

It certainly must be something about the British way of thinking. It reminds me of the story of the American and the Britain seeing a man go past in a Rolls Royce. The Brit knocks him for showing his money off. The American says that he'll be driving a car like that within 10 years.

Perhaps it's our weather.....????
