My wife and I just bought a lovely home with deep water access in the S.F. Bay Area. The house is split level, in that half the house is on a raised foundation with lovely wood flooring while the rest of the house is on a concrete slab. A large recreational room is on the slab with black patterned linoleum tile, and the walls and ceiling are also quite dark.

However, I like the knotty pinewood paneling on the walls and the open beam with narrow tough and groove ceiling. I just don't like the dark amber stain on the walls. Any suggestions on how I can get rid of the gloomy nautical feel of this room?

The ceiling seems best left as it is, but maybe we can lighten up the walls. Obviously, paint is out of the question. Will I screw up the wood paneling on the walls if a white or light stain of some sort is applied? What's the best procedure here?

Also, any suggestions on the flooring

SOS help.....

I have got a little project to make on PC in order to build a house.

Appart from 'Chief assistant', a software you can buy for a couple of hundred (Australian) Dollars, I do not know any other CAO/DAO That would do the job. Furthermore i do not wish to buy any program, as this is somothing I need to do once only.

Can someone help me to find a shareware on the net ?.

Thank you in advance.
