Does anyone know.... Why are there so many angles , or pitches, to Greek pediments? Did Neoclassicism increase them? Were they calculated to harmonize with classical ratios (hence, body ratios)...
Monticello and other Neoclassical pediments I have measured seem to average about 18ยบ.
The books I have come across have no real discussion of pediment angles except to say Greek pediments were flatter than Roman.
