Can someone point me to a U.S. source for reasonably-priced recessed fluorescent 'can' lights, preferably with electronic ballast? I'd like to use these in lieu of incandescent ones, but the cost of the fluorescent fixturing ($80+ each) is four (4!!!) times that of the incandescent ones. (Yes, I'm aware of the energy savings...but most of the savings are based on the bulbs alone...and bulbs cost less than 1/10 the price of the fixture, so we may be talking about a 15-year payback!!!)
Also, for those of you who have compact fluorescents and electronic ballasts...has there been any problem with radio/TV/computer interference?

Can you tell me where you are? I used to work for a flourescent lighting mfgr and maybe can call some old friends and they can point me to a distributor in your area. The company I worked for was Globe Illumination.
In the meantime, if you are really interested in saving energy costs insofar as lighting goes, You might take a look at our website about Solar Daylighting. How does up to 10 hours per day of natural great interior lighting without the use of electricty sound?

Hi Jim. I'm in Austin, Texas.
Relative to Solar Daylighting, our home design with lots of windows and southern orientation will result in little need for daytime electrical lighting. (Our current home, from the same designer & builder, is always bright & light during the day.) In this southern climate, it's the heat generated by incandescent floods that really bugs me! But I will take a look at your website.
