Hi all,

I just painted my walls a dark chocolate brown, all of the trim is white and the carpet is off white. It was a pretty bold move for me, but I am happy with the way it turned out.

Anyway, I need some color suggestions for drapes. I currently have duets blinds at the moment. The room has six windows, so I was going to swag some fabric on the tops of them in a light weight fabric of somesort, but don't know whether I should go with a monochromatic color scheme or introduce another color. BTW the bedspread is cream colored. The look that I want to create is old world/Mediterranean theme.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. P.S. I hope I included enough information

Thanks in advance

How about a deep orangy-red? I've seen some great silk that would drape beautifully as a swag. Is there any more color in the room?

You could also go for a big stripe that is basically monochromatic and puddle the drapes. Kathy

All the drapes in the Betty Lou Phillips book you said was your style are puddled. My favorite room in that book is on page 26 and 27. Kathy

Thank you for your suggestions. I was initially considering doing panels of fabric from ceiling to floor in a two tone coppery black silk like fabric (I was going to puddle it, I do like that look). But have decided to do that in a guestroom I am currently working on, but that's another story.

Anyway, I feel pretty strongly about doing some sort of informal swag. We normally draw our 'blinds' up to enjoy the view, so I just wanted something to cover the tops of the windows to hide the off white blinds while open.

I wanted to purchase a large tapestry to go over the bed; maybe that is where my fabric inspiration lies?? Anyone know any good online sources for something with a Mediterranean feel??

Thanks for the suggestions again,

Terracotta?

Actually, since chocolate brown. terracotta, deep red and off white are so popular in classical greek and roman vases, probably your best bet is to find a picture of a vase that gives the balance you want.

Funny! I'm laughing because when I looked through the book the first time I did not even notice the drapes. I was focused on furniture entirely. This weekend when I have more time, I will peruse it more.
