I'm seriously thinking of getting a few nice poster reproductions of artworks, framing them well and hanging them. Only one of my choices is a bit confrontational and I'm not sure about what people will think of it. It is Lady Jane Grey about to get her head chopped of in the 1500's because she was a threat to Mary who had taken the throne.

Here is a link. It is a moving picture but not gory.

What do you reckon? Maybe the hallway? Too much for the living room or dining room I think. But because the picture moves me I want to use it...

NOT my style, but art appreciation is a very personal thing.

One of the problems is that I think people would get the wrong idea about me.

I like the picture because of what it says about monarchy... not because I enjoy seeing 16 year old girls about to be beheaded.

I'm not necessarily a believer, but also consult a feng shui book before hanging. You don't want to inadvertently hang it in your success or relationship sections of your home. IF there's something to Feng Shui, a beheading painting could have bad ramifications in those areas.

I've toyed with the idea of fengshui.... but combined with my perfectly normal scepticism about such ideas goes a sneaking belief that as I am in the Southern hemisphere a lot of the Fengshui directions must be back to

Even if you are in the Southern hemisphere, north is still north, as in magnetic north, thus, FS principles, if you believe in them, apply.

Yes, but in the Southern Hemisphere North is the direction the sun shines in from... so the whole sunlight thing is reversed and as sunlight is a major energy flow..

No, north is still magnetic north, it has nothing to do with solar energy - if you're talking about Feng Shui. Last year, I did probono PR work for a series of monthly talks by Feng Shui experts. They all asserted that magnetic north is always the basis for FS, no matter what hemisphere you are in.

Solar energy has no bearing on FS, which is based upon magnetic fields in the earth, and the position of structures on the landform, in relation to the wind and water. HTH.

Hang it !

If other people don't like it then that's OK - they don't have to live with it - I have a print of Picasso's Guernica on my bedroom wall which isn't to everyone's taste

At the very least it might spark off conversation

But like you say maybe not in the dining room

Best regards
