I know that remodeling the kitchen can be a dream come true for many but before you start any work take the time to think.
First what is the structure of your kitchen and what can’t be touched or is too expensive to change.
Check this guide for example to guide you through the first basic stages of planning.
If you have gone through the whole list and see that your plans are suitable than it is time for actual planning and ideas.
For this part you can browse as many kitchen models as possible to feel what style really speaks to you. I loved some ideas from here
Then and only then you can have a semi workable scheme of what your kitchen should look like and you can go out and find items, contractor or whatever else you need for the remodeling that you plan.
The more you know what you want the more chance you have of actually getting there so good planning is crucial.

I am a kitchen designer and I believe that finding a good professional who has been in the business for several years is your best bet to get the kitchen that you dreamed of. I would suggest staying away from the "big box" stores and finding a good local contractor or kitchen designer that you feel comfortable with. One the best ways to find someone capable is to ask friends and family for recommendations.
Recommendations are definitely the way to go
