Yes..Please do not build this! Spend some time researching some more graceful styles of Architecture. Not to sound mean, but this building would be an eyesore. A building (especially a home) should, in my opinion, be harmonious and alive! Your diagram (geometrically) feels very cold to me. This house is too boring...you walk in the front door and all the sudden your walking out the back door..There must be some adventure and effort involved in getting through a home..not just functionality ...and it seems that every room in the house is exactly the same on both sides!!!! I would recommend that you pick up a copy of Architectural Digest just to get some fresher ideas.

Well sure...I only recommend Architectural Digest as a good place to start. Not to emulate... but just to be exposed to some different ideas and styles. But I must disagree with you. Architecture should evolve out of style and inspiration. Architecture is an art like music, sculpture, painting, or anything else...Functionality is secondary. After the carport is built, the couple can buy a car...and after the grand kitchen is finished, the wife (or husband) can learn to cook. That's part of the fun of life. If a home is designed simply to maintain the owners current needs and abilities in life, then there's no room for

A home is a home to the owner whom the home is ... But a house to one whom it's not.
Houses in architectural digest are showcases of houses home to its owners. Believe me someone made a sensible design for them or the owner used his own insight to define his needs and satisfy it...
Architecture evolves not out of style... but from the lifestyle the users have. You don't design for a carport to a couple who don't have a car. you don't design a grand kitchen for a wife who does not cook.
It is a one on one experience. Better NOT COPY another ones' idea to be a good designer.

Sorry, but this is the sort of self indulgent opinion that while it may suit your own point of view, is sadly out of touch with the real world. Yes, I agree that architecture is an art , but it has a far more direct effect on peoples lives than music. Art and functionality should be weighed up in relation to one another: above all a building should work!! I agree with your points made about the original enquiry, but your remark that 'functionality is secondary' should be kept to the classroom, or until we can all manage to get clients who want to be bold, artistic and take a chance. The balance between art and functionality is precarious and ever changing with each individual work
Architecture should enrich the lives of the people who use it. If it doesn't work, i.e. it is not FUNCTIONAL, then what have we as architects achieved? A selfish fantasy work of art that pays no heed to the surrounding environment or people who it should serve.
Let's not have art for art's sake.
