My neighbor is looking to rip out and redesign his kitchen, which seems to have been laid out by the same folks who built the Paris sewers (and then shrunk to dollhouse scale).

OK, I exaggerate, but not by much. Problem: His home is a modest-sized condominium and the kitchen itself is long and narrow (though not quite 'Pullman' type). All the idea-books he's found so far for this project seem to focus primarily on what to do if you live in the Taj Mahal.

Can anyone here recommend any books dealing with, or even including as a nontrivial sideline, apartment kitchens?

Thanks in advance for any clues.

Try this:

'Small Spaces' by House Beautiful

The whole book is dedicated to small rooms like your neighbour's kitchen. He may also find it helpful for other areas of his condo as well.
