Hi, I'm looking for a newsgroup where people using 2020 kitchen design software share their views on it's merits and/or shortcomings.
Anybody here a 2020 user?? Opinions on this software???
I would like to hear some unbiased opinions about that product too. Also Planit.
Hi, I'm an interiordesigner in Norway doing kitchen and bathdesign and want the same information too.... Marry
I will respond to MAGNUS once he/she removes the Happy99 virus from his/her computer.
Tim, Do you currently use the software or are you just considering it as an option? I have only begun to use it, I usually use AutoCAD and 3D Studio MAX but the fellow I work with now, wants to continue using 2020. There are a few problems with the current set-up we are using such as pricing on the software not matching the suppliers catalogue and descriptions of cabinetry not appearing on reports but this may be due to a need for an update of dealer info. and inexperience with the program.
Do you have any experience with 2020?

No, I draw kitchens and other things in 2d with Turbocad. I don't use 3d except sometimes to draw a couple of boxes to help get the proportions of a sketch correct. I suspect though that sooner or later we will all have to go with something like 2020 because customers and manufacturers will demand it. I will be sad to see my precious skills become redundant, especially since I only learned them in the last couple of years, but that's technology for you.
My experience of 2020 is limited to a couple of hours with a salesman demonstrating it. I had a copy of Planit for 'evaluation' but it is no longer the latest version. I am particulary interested to hear if it is as adaptable as they claim - I don't like the idea of being limited to someone else's pre drawn components. I don't normally limit myself to standard sizes. I don't know how good they are with differing floor levels, angled ceilings etc.
I also found the interface and drawing procedures a bit wierd on both products - and I consider myself reasonably adept at general computer graphics. Niether of them seemed to have a proper windows interface or follow any standard command conventions. I would like to know if that has changed. Also which one is going to be the standard? I don't want the Betamax version.
I can draw plan and elevations very presentable and quite quickly at the moment and print on A2. I have seen some 3d renderings by my competitors all on A4 and looking very scrappy and I suspect that to make them look good - choose the curtains, the tiles, the wall colour, accessorise, fiddle with the lighting etc - actually takes a long long time.
I would be interested to hear of your experience.
Tim, I am learning 5.2 version right now and have not gotten into bulkheads, angled ceilings etc. etc. but will let you know when I get back to work. It's -27 today and the car won't go.
As far as standard command conventions, yes, 2020 is much different and does not seem to be consistent in it's approach but I shall keep an open mind until I learn more. It does seem that the program has the potential to do things quickly with a client sitting by your side for the standard components. Don't know how fast custom work would be though or to what degree it is possible.
Will let you know when we iron out our current bugs and move on to real time use.
I am currently using 2020 6.4 (sp5)
I am less than enthusiastic about the program and the support. Although it does work and is getting better all the time, it has some real problems in its flexibility and presentation.
I have used Autocad for years and it is a VERY professional piece of software. But you must start from practically scratch and build up your own library of 3d items
2020 is much easier to use and you do not have to draw every line and dot, but there are problems with the new 6.X version and the customer support is weak. unless you want to price by hand it is one of the only options available.
I am also inteested in others thoughts on this new version (6) of 2020 thanks
2020 is the best product for kitchen design with the only continually updated manufacturer info, however the 3D modeling does fall short if your project extends past the kitchen, our Envisioneer software is a terrific companion as it allows you to import your kitchen design from 2020 and use the superior 3D modeling for whole home construction to better illustrate how the design will fit with the clients existing
HAVE BEEN USING 2020 MANY, MANY YEARS NOW, AND NOW ON V8.1....STILL HAS MANY ISSUES AND UNSTABLE, BUT IT IS THE BEST ONE AVAILABLE(2020 BOUGHT ALL THE COMPETITION!) YOU CAN CREATE MOST EVERYTHING IF YOU LEARN TO USE CUBES, CYLINDERS, 3D/CAD CREATION, TEXTURES, COLORS, ETC.. IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET WORKING VERSION OF THE PROGRAM WITHOUT GOING THROUGH 2020.
Below is a link to a 2020 users forum. 2020 also has a forum ,upgrades and some manufacturers catalogs on thier site.
The current version is 8.1 and has been out for some time.
The biggest adavatage that 2020 has over many other software options is that it is supported by just about all of the cabinet manufacturers as well as many other industry sources such as Rev-A-Shelf, Iron-Away,Kolher and GE.
Have used 2020 for 15 years. I was the 2020 trainer for a big box retailer for years. There is a 9.0 ver out now. I was told it was handed out at the KBIZ show in Atlanta this year. Would love to get my hands on a copy
What happened Glennskitchen? company's difficulties or you needed a change (of jobs)?

Hi, do you steel have the 2020 Kitchen Design Software?
If you do and you are selling it, can you please let know how much you want?
My name is Jose Lombardo, I leave in Miami, Florida and my email is:
Hey I 2ND that request. If you do have version 8.1, I too would like a copy of the program. How do we go about this?? Please let me know.
I presently used v8.1 @ work and although it does have very minor setbacks, it is a very profound program. very thorough, with some of the latest features, including the adaptation to updating cabinet info with vendors or cabinet trends, and the many options to choose from in views - 3D, textures, and much more.
How soon can I get a copy of it? Thanks in advance!

kitchen design software actually do not make much more sense . You know better than that i think that what you want in your kitchen and how you would like to renovate or build it.
I have used 20/20 software almost from the beginning. With every new update I had troubles and finally resigned myself to the fact that this was as good as it gets and lived with the day to day problems. If one wanted to get trained it was a major investment of time we didn't have or $$$$ to pay 20/20 people. I did go to several classes and was not impressed. Didn't much like the attitude of the staff when I needed help. Always felt that because I was not a computer geek that I was stupid.
A new day came last year when I was approached to "just try" Pro Kitchen software for two weeks. Well, let me tell you, I LOVE PROKITCHEN. It is everything that 20/20 will never be. It is so very easy to learn, the staff is helpful and friendly, and.......... all of the training is free! They have weekly 3 hour on line classes to help you. GET THIS..
They just came out with a new updated version and they provided with out asking or begging tutorials on line at the same time as the update was sent. BE still my heart! I now love designing again. In seconds I can have the details of full color renderings in place and view the results. Yes, they are still getting the accessories and appliances in the system but, I would much rather use Pro Kitchen than 20/20 anyday. I also just read in an email that they are going to interface with I believe CadPro and Quick Books soon?
Prokitchens and answer to a prayer.
Hey Big Wind,
Do you know when the non-cabinet catalogs will be in place with ProKitchen? I emailed them to ask, but haven't heard back yet. I currently use 2020V8.1 and can't stand it any longer after years of arrogance up in Quebec when having to deal with them, lousy interface that hasn't gotten better from 6.0 to now and a joke of bathroom/non cabinet items. I have a trial of ProKitchen and am planning on installing it to try it out. The only thing that concerns me is the non-cabinet catalog support. I also use Chief Architect XI and X2 and it is great for doing whole house designs. The kitchen cabinet end is not as quick as 2020, but doing designs in Chief and 2020 if needed works great.
Check out Chief Architect. XI catalogs are free to download, but with X2 you need a SSA to download. There are many free symbols out there if you search. Also can import 3DS, SKP, DWG, DXF into Chief.
Software Currently Used:
2020 Design V8.1
Chief Architect XI and X2
(Hopefully ProKitchen to replace 2020)
i have one v8 but no dongle or if you want not cracked.
Do you still have a copy of 20/20 I would like to get it.Is it cracked ?
I have paid a fortune for Articad, and am not impressed. I dont intend paying for the design software again.
Does anyone know where I can download 2020, or kitchencad, or cabinet vision latest version?
Try looking for 'download 2020 for free' on google.
Hi i have a copy of 2020 v9 without crack. If some one knows hot to unlock it let me know
Cracking a software is not legal and therefor we can't help you with that.
i am an independent professional kitchen designer. i use v8.1.
this is the best design software i have ever used (i do like the envisioneer software as well, but it is proving to be harder for me to learn than 2020 so i'm not using it yet)
it is a bit tough to learn at first, but with some practice and an epiphany or two regarding the way the program thinks, you can do amazing things with it. i am a builder/designer.
when i used to sketch designs out, i was able to lose jobs. since i started using 2020 (2.5years ago) i have lost only 1 out of 17 jobs i bid.
this gives me such an advantage that i will never go back to the pencil.
i am in the process of putting together a web site, and am kicking around the idea of teaching 2020 and design as a profession.
and i attached a couple for you to see. both done on 2020
apologies, my rendering was too big to attach. i resized it and i will try again.
well, that didnt work either, one more try.
